Hair Removal
After shaving (which can be done at home) and applying a cold gel, gentle pulses of light are emitted directly into the hair follicle. The pigment (melanin) in the follicle absorbs the light energy and destroys the follicles ability to re-grow hair. For this reason, AFT/IPL technology does not work on white or light color hair.
You may experience a mild stinging sensation as the pulse of light flashes. Most treatments take only minutes (depending on the size of the area to be treated) and you will be able to resume normal daily activities immediately.
Because all hairs are not actively growing at the same time, multiple treatments (3-5) are needed. Only hair follicles in the growth cycle, at the time of treatment, are affected. Treatments can be repeated every 6 weeks. Over time, you may notice the regrowth of some hair. A yearly touch up may be needed.
Tanning should be avoided for at least 2 weeks before and after treatments. Having tanned skin makes you more prone to possible side effects due to increased pigment in the skin, causing more energy to be absorbed by the skin. Tanning includes any treatment that darkens the skin, including the sun, tanning beds, bronzing beds, spray on tans, or self-tanning lotions.
You can shave between treatments. In fact, we ask that you shave before your appointment. IPL/AFT hair removal works best if there is not much surface hair. Tweezing, waxing, bleaching, or using depilatories should be stopped to avoid damage to the follicles.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive mechanical peel using a slightly abrasive tip which is passed across the skin quickly. This motion, combined with a light suction, causes mild abrasion which stimulates blood flow to the surface of the skin producing increased cell renewal and collagen growth.
After treatment, your skin will have a fresh pink flow and soft texture. You can apply makeup and resume normal activity.
Microderm treats fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, pigment changes, and stretch marks. The number of treatments needed will depend on you skin type, condition, and desired result. On average, 3-5 treatments spaced every 1-2 weeks will be needed to achieve dramatic improvement. To maintain you results, additional treatments should be performed every 1-2 months, accompanied by a home skin care regime.
Leg Vein Treatment
We offer advanced laser technology as an effective, noninvasive option for treating varicose and spider veins. This treatment selectively targets and coagulates problem blood vessels without affecting the surrounding skin.
The pulse of light from the laser may feel similar to a rubber band being snapped on the skin. Cold gel is applied to the skin before treatment and cold air is applied during the treatment to help prevent discomfort.
The desired immediate effect is darkening of the vessel due to blood coagulation and redness and swelling along the vessel. Cold packs to the area following treatment will reduce the redness and swelling. The vessel will gradually disappear as the blood absorbs the coagulated blood in the vessel. If little change is noted in the vessel, the laser setting can be increased at the next treatment. Treatments can be repeated every 3-4 weeks and are complete when satisfactory results are achieved.
Following treatment, trauma to the area should be avoided for 5 days. This includes massages and aerobic exercise. Hot baths should also be avoided.
Skin Reguvenation
IPL/AFT Photofacials stimulate collagen production for a firmer, smoother, more youthful glow. It reduces the appearance of fine lines, improves skin texture and color, and removes blotches and small vessels. Rosacea and skin flushing can also be treated.
Light based treatments are noninvasive procedures that target red and brown pigment and small blood vessels. These treatments are a safe, effective way to improve the signs of aging of the face, neck, chest (declotte), arms, and hands.
Before treatment, a cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. During the procedure, pulses of bright light are applied to the area while cold air is blown into that area. AFT pulsed light treatments are described to feel like a mild pinch or a rubber band snap to the skin.
Treatments usually last 15-30 minutes and usually require up to 4 sessions. Many patients see significant improvement in 2-3 sessions.
After treatment, patients can resume normal activities. The skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker and small blood vessels may be more visible. There may be some mild flaking of brown spots after several days then the spot will fade or disappear after about 7-10 days. For best results, sun exposure should be limited for several weeks before and after the procedure.
