IPL/AFT
Photofacials stimulate collagen
production for a firmer,
smoother, more youthful glow.
It reduces the appearance of
fine lines, improves skin
texture and color, and removes
blotches and small vessels.
Rosacea and skin flushing can
also be treated.
Light based
treatments are noninvasive
procedures that target red and
brown pigment and small blood
vessels. These treatments are a
safe, effective way to improve
the signs of aging of the face,
neck, chest (declotte), arms,
and hands.
Before treatment,
a cold gel is applied to the
area to be treated. During the
procedure, pulses of bright
light are applied to the area
while cold air is blown into
that area. AFT pulsed light
treatments are described to feel
like a mild pinch or a rubber
band snap to the skin.
Treatments
usually last 15-30 minutes and
usually require up to 4
sessions. Many patients see
significant improvement in 2-3
sessions.
After treatment,
patients can resume normal
activities. The skin may appear
flushed, brown pigmented spots
may appear darker and small
blood vessels may be more
visible. There may be some mild
flaking of brown spots after
several days then the spot will
fade or disappear after about
7-10 days. For best results,
sun exposure should be limited
for several weeks before and
after the procedure.
